The Extrusion Operator is responsible for the operation of multiple extrusion lines used to extrude various tubing, shapes and profiles used in the manufacture of medical devices.
This position encompasses equipment startup, setup, ongoing operation, troubleshooting and shutdown.
Coordinates the flow of raw materials, maintain the performance of the production line and monitoring the condition of the in-process product.
Set-up, operate and troubleshoot all related equipment - extruder and controls, water trough, laser O.
D.
gauges, etc.
Prepare for upcoming jobs and perform changeovers.
Ability to set up and perform vacuum sizing for HDPE and LDPE plastics.
Good understanding of polymer resins and drying requirements; prepare resins for processing as required.
Complete product traceability, logs, production reports, data entry, etc.
as required to document extrusion related activities.
General knowledge of material problems, solutions and running parameters.
Job Requirements:
Must have experience in a manufacturing environment.

years' experience in a plastics extrusion / injection molding environment is preferred.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Ability to achieve maximum output and minimum downtime.
Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches, die gauges, screwdrivers, tape measure, etc.
Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills is desired.
Must participate in departmental cross training.
Make machine adjustments to insure product meets dimensional and physical specifications, including adjustments to dies, speed and temperature.
Dismantle, clean and make minor repairs to tooling including extrusion dies, feed screws and head assemblies.
Must be able to adjust extrusion lines to meet size specification, resize jobs and operate extrusion machinery and related line equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Must understand and perform related tasks such as finished part inspection, material identification and handling, data collection and input and meet all related requirements for documentation and traceability.
